Ashe County Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a worldwide organization and is a non-profit Christian housing ministry with a mission to make safe, affordable housing available in Ashe County.  Habitat is not a giveaway program and families who are selected will be expected to participate in the entire process.  The Board of Directors are all volunteers from Ashe County and give of their time and talents to spread the mission of Habitat.  Donations are needed immediately.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The process for selecting the first family is set to begin. Applications are now being accepted for Ashe County's first Habitat for Humanity Home. Habitat for Humanity works to create decent, affordable housing in partnership with those in need. Three important factors in the selection of a deserving family are need, ability to pay and willingness to partner.

The selected family is required to contribute "sweat equity" by working in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. The Family Selection Committee will choose a family in a way that does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, age, handicap, religion, marital status, or because all or part of the applicant's income is derived from public assistance programs. Applicants will be considered for a Habitat home if present housing is not adequate and if applicants are unable to obtain adequate housing through other conventional means.
