Habitat Committees

If you are interested in volunteering with any of our committees please call 846-2525. The chairperson of that committee will contact you.

Family Selection Committee
This committee recruits family applicants, screens applications, interviews applicants, and recommends applicants to the board of directors for approval as prospective homeowners. Chairperson: Vacant (This committee is inactive at this time because we are not currently accepting applications for homeownership.)

Family Support Committee
The Family Support Committee provides Habitat homeowners and prospective homeowners with a support system, educational opportunities, and a forum for discussions pertaining to home ownership and maintenance, all for the purpose of helping families to break the poverty cycle and become more independent.
Chairperson: Angie Miller

Fund Development
The members of this committee coordinate the raising of funds needed to build homes. Their tasks include fund-raising campaigns, grant proposal writing, special fund-raising events, and cultivation of major donors. This committee emphasizes and promotes the importance of Christian stewardship in the servicing of donors and supporters.
Chairperson: Tracy-Lynn Schuster

Church Relations Committee
The Church Relations Committee seeks to strengthen the support of the chapter's work by gaining volunteers, prayer support, and financial resources from all community churches. The Church Relations committee is the liaison between the affiliate and our local faith community.
Chairperson: Stacy Maye

Construction Committee
The most popular volunteer opportunity is helping on the construction site. We welcome your participation whether you are an experienced tradesperson or you don’t know a sixteen penny nail from a spackling knife!
Chairman: Gerry Tygielski

Resource Development Committee
The Resources Committee keeps the general public informed about the work Ashe County Habitat is doing and of ways to get involved as a volunteer, donor, or homeowner. If you have interest in community outreach activities such as maintaining the chapter website, writing newspaper articles, organizing social events or staffing information tables at community festivals, we can put you to work.
Chairperson: Jerrita Roark
