Construction
The most popular volunteer opportunity is helping on the construction site. We welcome your participation whether you are an experienced tradesperson or you don't know a sixteen-penny nail from a spackling knife!

Family Selection
Members of this committee play a major role in deciding who lives in Ashe County Habitat homes. Volunteers bring a wide range of skills to this committee, from social service expertise to analytical skills for reviewing applications. This committee assists in the screening of applications and with visiting the homes of prospective homeowners to help determine need.

Family Support
The Family Support Committee pairs Ashe County Habitat volunteers with homeowner candidates. These volunteer "supporters" serve as the link between the candidates and the Habitat office. Supporters answer questions and provide support in preparation for the home ownership process. Many supporters work on the construction site with their homeowner family, helping earn sweat equity hours.

Fund Development
Annual Appeal: In the fall, Habitat sends out an annual appeal letter to supporters. Help design the mailing, refine the existing mailing list, and develop strategies to increase the number of people that receive the mailing, as well as resulting donations.

Planned Giving: Get in on the ground floor of our planned giving efforts. Help launch an effort to encourage donors to remember Habitat in their will through the development of materials, communication with existing volunteers and donors, and arrangement of speaking engagements. The committee will initially meet once per month

Resource Development Committee Members engage in community outreach activities that include maintaining the Ashe County Habitat website, conducting media outreach, staffing information tables at neighborhood festivals, organizing social events, and supporting Ashe County Habitat events such as home dedication ceremonies.
