A Christmas and New Year's break didn't slow down Terry and a crew of regular volunteers from continuing to make progress in the goal to finish the Insulated Concrete Form wall system.

Little by little they continued to install the door and window frames and build the walls around them until this last Thursday the last block was put in place.
This Saturday we will do some touch up work with bracing and leveling the wall top and building a retaining wall. Our goal will be to have the home ready for the walls to be poured with concrete next week. Once that is done we will add the front porch and the interior partition walls. Then the roof.
If you can make it, please come and join us this week. We work from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM weather permitting. No tools are needed and lunch is provided. You must be 17 to work in construction at the site. The home is located in Jefferson off Highway 88. From Jefferson take West Main (Highway 88) to McFarland Publishing. Turn right on Hickory Hill Road and a left on West Hickory Hill. The site is over the top of the hill. Wear your Long Johns. Temps are forecast to be very cold. Habitat for Humanity is a Christian Housing Ministry that builds homes in 70 countries around the world. We are building our eighth house here in Ashe County. We would like for you to be a part of it. Church and business teams are more than welcome to schedule a work day. Don't wait!
