What is RePurposed for a Reason?
This event is a showcase for local artists and crafters to benefit Ashe County Habitat for Humanity. Artists/crafters select an item from the ReStore ($100 ReStore value or less) and use their creative genius to repurpose/redesign the item, which is returned to the ReStore and sold at a silent, in-store auction.
Our goals for this event include:
- Showcasing the amazing talent of artists and crafters in our community and promoting their work
- Providing inspiration to ReStore shoppers for their own efforts at repurposing items that are typically found in the ReStore
- Sharing our mission of providing affordable housing in Ashe County and raising funds to support our work
Who Can Participate?
Any talented artist/crafter/DIYer in our area is eligible to participate!
How Do Artists Benefit?
- Your work will be showcased on our ReStore sales floor from June 29-July 10
- All works submitted will be featured on our website and social media platforms
- You will know that your creativity is providing affordable homes for your neighbors in Ashe County
How Do I Participate?
- REGISTER by Friday, May 8 at the ReStore or by downloading the form here, printing/completing, and returning the form to the ReStore or emailing it to restore@ashehabitat.org
- SELECT AN ITEM/ITEMS from the ReStore (item must be priced at $100 or less) for your work. The item(s) selected should be the foundation of the work, and you have creative freedom to make it beautiful/fun/useful/amazing! You can select your item(s) when you register, or you can visit the ReStore at other times to choose your item.
- PROVIDE PHOTOS of your item(s) in its BEFORE condition and then again when you complete the item. We prefer that the artist is in the photograph, but this is not a necessity. Our staff at the store can help with photos if you need assistance.
- RETURN YOUR ITEM to the ReStore by Friday, June 19. We ask that you suggest an opening price for bidding on your item.

How Will the Auction Work?
Items will be showcased in a special section of the ReStore sales floor beginning on June 29 and going through July 10. Bidding will take place on bid sheets in the store, with bidding ending at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 10. Winners need not be present. Those who are not present at the end of the auction will be notified by email/phone and will be able to pick up their item at the ReStore.
