The Staff

Wayne J Pitts, PhD (Executive Director)

Ashe Habitat is pleased to welcome Wayne Pitts as our new full-time Executive Director. Wayne most recently worked with RTI International in Research Triangle Park, and he has experience in project management and grant writing, as well as a background in child protective services and higher education. He lives in Ashe County, where he is a beekeeper, small business owner, and community advocate. Wayne’s skill set and experience will help us continue to grow as we seek to increase our impact in Ashe County.

JB Byrch (Construction Supervisor)

JB Byrch studied Building Science at Appalachian State University, is a licensed General contractor and has felt called to help people through construction since coming to faith as a teenager. He is passionate about what we do at Ashe Habitat and hopes to make your volunteer experience a meaningful one.

Mae Hacking (ReStore Manager)

Mae has spent most of her career in customer service oriented fields. She loves serving the community of Ashe, and is always happy to help customers in our ReStore with any questions or concerns.
